Fly-over of Lake Winnipesaukee

Mr. C. recently obtained his private pilot license, and I’m not going to lie. It’s brought a whole new level of awesome to our lives.

A few weeks ago he brought me on my first flight in a rented Cessna 172. It was a tight fit, and a reminder that we need to  get back on our whole-food, plant-based eating regimen pretty exclusively or we may eat ourselves right back out of flying. But more importantly, it was exhilarating. I’ll post photos from that flight in a couple of days.

First I wanted to share this photo. I’m not sure what it is about it that I particularly love.

It’s part of our flyover of Lake Winnipesaukee, and I actually snapped probably 100 photos, but something about this one speaks to me.  Maybe it’s the angle.  I’m not sure.

Maybe that it seems capture the feeling of freedom, of “the sky’s the limit,” of breaking away from the chaos of the world.

Or maybe it’s the sense of peace and beauty. The feeling that, when you look at our earth from a distance–even in a chaotic pandemic/election year– there is an overwhelming feeling of perfection.

I’m not sure. But I am sure that at that exact moment I had forgotten about all the bad that was happening on the ground and remembered that “this too shall pass.”

When all about you is falling apart, I hope it helps you remember that too.
